It was attributed to Mito Masakatsu by the NBTHK Sword Museum. The pronounced masame hada is characteristic of Mito workmanship. The boshi displays multiple layers of activity before ending in yakitsume, giving the blade a particularly distinctive appearance. There are some light scuff marks on the blade, suggesting that it may have been used for batto practice. As it is already mounted in koshirae, it would also be suitable for iaido or batto practice.

Koshirae:
Koshirae: Mounted for iaido practice.
Tsuba: Hexagonal tsuba with pierced circular openings.
Fuchikashira: Carved with a rope pattern.
Saya (Scabbard): Dark brown lacquered saya.
Menuki: Dragon motif decorated with gold iroe.

NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Token.
AoiArt estimation paper: Whole Oshigata.

Please note: the price does not include the shipping fees.

<img decoding="async" src="https://www.aoijapan.com/img/sword/2026/26027paper-1.jpg" alt="" width=“60%" height=“60%" /> <img decoding="async" src="https://www.aoijapan.com/img/sword/2026/26027paper-2.jpg" alt="" width=“60%" height=“60%" />

Ordering Number: AS26027 Katana in Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Token) Signature: Mumei (Mito Masakatsu) 無銘(水戸正勝) (We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku and Regular Saku).
