\nHamon: Nie-deki gunome-midare, giving the blade at first glance the appearance of a Bizen-style sword.<\/p>\n

Features: Shigaseki refers to a group of swordsmiths, including Kanenobu and Nobutsugu, who relocated from Seki in Mino Province to the area around present-day Shiga-cho, Kita Ward, Nagoya City. A castle once stood in the village of Nishi-Shiga, and these smiths are believed to have moved there to meet the demand for weapons. Even today, the area around 2-20 Kinjo-cho retains the place name Kajiya-machi (Blacksmiths’ Town), reflecting its historical association with swordsmithing.<\/p>\n

\nHamon: Nie-deki with a soft and refined nioiguchi.<\/p>\n

Features: The Uda School originated in Uda District, Yamato Province, before relocating to Etchu Province. The school traces its origins to Ko-Nyudo Kunimitsu, who was active in the late Kamakura period, and later produced such notable smiths as Kunifusa, Kunimune, and Kunitsugu, continuing to flourish into the Edo period. Works made before the Oei era (beginning in 1394) are classified as Ko-Uda, while those produced thereafter are generally referred to simply as Uda.<\/p>\n
