His real name was Yamaguchi Takeshi. In 1952, he succeeded to his father&#8217;s family forge, where he produced kitchen knives, scissors, and woodworking planes. In 1966, he became a student of Sumitani Masamine, a Living National Treasure. He established his own forge in 1972 in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture. At the Shinsaku Meito Exhibition, he received numerous prestigious awards, including the Prince Takamatsu Prize and the Kunzan Prize. In 1986, he attained the distinguished status of Mukansa swordsmith. In 1993, he was designated as a holder of an Important Cultural Property of Iwate Prefecture.
