The school flourished from the Kamakura period through the end of the Muromachi period, with its origins tracing back to the Mokusa tradition. The original forging technique was eventually lost. During the late Edo period, Gassan Sadakazu successfully revived this distinctive method after extensive research. It is also known that a few swordsmiths had already succeeded in reproducing the Gassan hada during the mid Edo period. Through generations of study and dedication, the Gassan family preserved the legacy of their ancestors, and the tradition was later inherited by Gassan Sadakatsu. This blade is an excellent example, displaying beautifully executed ayasugi-hada (Gassan hada).

Koshirae:
Tsuba: Vertically oval iron tsuba carved with plum blossoms.
Menuki: Iris motif with gold iroe.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo nanako ground.
Saya (Scabbard): Black lacquered saya with a decorative textured finish.
Kozuka: Shakudo nanako ground carved with a kirin (mythical beast), decorated with gold and silver iroe.
Kogatana: Included.

NBTHK Hozon Token Certificate.
AoiArt estimation paper: Whole Oshigata.
Overseas shipping is charged separately.

Please note: the price does not include the shipping fees.

<img decoding="async" src="https://www.aoijapan.com/img/sword/2025/25011paper-1.jpg" alt="" width=“60%" height=“60%" /> <img decoding="async" src="https://www.aoijapan.com/img/sword/2025/25011paper-2.jpg" alt="" width=“60%" height=“60%" />

Ordering Number: AS25011 Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon Token) Signature: Mumei (Gassan) 無銘(月山) (We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku and Regular Saku).
