This piece is rated as Jyo Saku for Bizen-no-suke Fujiwara Munetsugu. <\/p>\n<p>Habaki: Plain copper single.<br \/>\nBlade Length: 68.9cm (27.1in)<br \/>\nCurvature: 1.0cm (0.4in)<br \/>\nMekugi Hole: 1<br \/>\nWidth at Base (Motohaba): 3.3cm (1.3n)<br \/>\nThickness: 0.9cm (0.4in)<br \/>\nSword Weight: 805 grams<br \/>\nEra: the end of Edo period (1868)<br \/>\nShape: wide and thick Hirauchi blade with Bo-hi carving.<br \/>\nJigane: fine KO-irame hada looks plain.<br \/>\nHamon: Nioi deki Gunome midare with pointed Boshi. <\/p>\n<p>Features: This is very healthy blade with about 3cm of Ububa.<br \/>\nThis Munetsugu is the same person as Koyama Munetsugu, \u56fa\u5c71\u5b97\u6b21. He is known as one of the best swordsmith of the Shinshinto era. Fujiwara Muneji, a swordsmith from Mutsu Shirakawa, was the same person as Gokuyama Muneji. He made swords for  the Shirakawa Matsudaira family and later moved to Kuwana in accordance with a clan order. He moved to Edo in Tempo 1831. Many of his works have Saidan-mei and owner inscriptions, and it is thought that he was famous at the time and received orders from many Samurai. Munetsugu is said to have had a fastidiousness in refusing to sell his swords on the market if they had flaws.
