Era: late Kamakura period, circa early 14th century
\nShape: slightly thin blade tapering toward the tip with modest curvature.
\nJigane: Itame covered with fine nie, mixed with Masa. Utsuri appears.
\nHamon: Ko-nie base Suguha with ko-gunome and ko-choji with Nie making sunagashi and Kinsen and thick nioi-kuchi. <\/p>\n

Features:
\nSukemitsu is regarded as the leading smith of the Yoshioka Ichimonji school and is considered the most accomplished craftsman among them. Existing signed works are dated to the Gen’\u014d, Genky\u014d, Kareki, and Gentoku (1319\u20131331) <\/p>\n

This sword remains in an almost original shape. In addition to the the signature \u201cIchi\u201d (\u4e00),which is the character of Ichimonji, it retains the long inscription \u201cBizen no Kuni Yoshioka-j\u016b Sakon Sh\u014dkan (kan is illegible part),\u201d from which it can be attributed to Sukemitsu.
\nThe jigane is finely forged with delicate nie and a distinct utsuri. Although the hamon is primarily in a suguha mixed with gunome and choji, it is enriched with fine ko-nie and abundant patterns, creating a lively and intricate appearance. It is an exceptionally well-executed work.<\/p>\n
