\nJigane: Exceptionally clear and refined jigane with packed koitame.
\nHamon: Gunome midare and notare with thick and soft nie. <\/p>\n

Features: The inscriptions carved on the blade, “\u6c42\u751f\u4ee5” and “\u7121\u5bb3\u4ec1” meaning “Never sacrifice virtue to save your own life. “, is quoted from the Confucian Analects, Book 15, “Wei Ling Gong”: “\u5fd7\u58eb\u4ec1\u4eba\u7121\u6c42\u751f\u4ee5\u5bb3\u4ec1\u6709\u6bba\u8eab\u4ee5\u6210\u4ec1”( the man of virtue will not seek to live at the expense of injuring their virtue. They will even sacrifice their lives to preserve their virtue complete). This passage, which teaches the virtues of moral integrity and self-sacrifice, was especially cherished by samurai during the end of Edo period. Little is known about Hokuetsu Shinj\u016b J\u016b Masanobu (Kobayashi Masanobu). However, the crisp and well-defined file marks on the tang appears to be of the workmanship of the Hosokawa Masayoshi’s school.<\/p>\n
