rim (Kasane): 0.75 cm (0.30 in).<br \/>\nSword Weight: 610 g.<br \/>\nEra: Edo period, around the Kanbun era (1661-1673).<br \/>\nShape: A well-proportioned wakizashi with wide mihaba, graceful curvature, and an elongated kissaki.<br \/>\nJigane: Well-forged, tightly compacted ko-itame hada displaying the characteristic Hizen jigane.<br \/>\nHamon: Nie-deki suguha, slightly wide with a deep nioiguchi.<br \/>\nThe boshi returns broadly and extends rather long.<\/p>\n<p>Features: Tadahiro, originally named Hashimoto Shinzaemon no Jo, succeeded his father in Kan&#8217;ei 9 (1632) at the age of 19, assuming the name Tadahiro.<br \/>\nIn Kan&#8217;ei 18 (1641), he received the honorary title of Omi Daijo.<br \/>\nUntil his death at the age of 80 on the 28th day of the 5th month of Genroku 6 (1693), he enjoyed a remarkable career spanning approximately 60 years, producing both suguha and midareba.<br \/>\nHe was an exceptionally accomplished swordsmith.<br \/>\nSome of his blades feature magnificent carvings, although kenmaki-ryu carvings are generally attributed to Yoshinaga.<br \/>\nThis example is a healthy blade with excellent jigane and is highly recommended.<\/p>\n<p>Koshirae:<br \/>\nTsuba: Round iron tsuba with openwork pampas grass (susuki) design.<br \/>\nFuchikashira: Brass ground decorated with flowers and grasses in gold and silver iroe.<br \/>\nSaya (Scabbard): Decorative lacquered saya with an unusual finish.<br \/>\nMenuki: Drum (tsuzumi) motif carved and highlighted with gold iroe.<br \/>\nKozuka: Shibuichi ground decorated with a plum tree and a figure in gold and silver.<br \/>\nIncluding kogatana.<\/p>\n<p>Aoi Art\u2019s Comment: Among the Hizen swordsmiths, the second-generation Tadahiro, who inherited the tradition of the first generation, is the most celebrated.<br \/>\nHis jigane and hamon are truly outstanding.<br \/>\nHis suguha displays a deep nioiguchi, and the boshi likewise exhibits a rich and deeply
