Habaki: Single-layer copper habaki with gold iroe.
\nBlade Length: 36.3 cm (14.29 in).
\nCurvature: 1.0 cm (0.39 in).
\nMekugi Hole: 1.
\nWidth at Base (Motohaba): 2.39 cm (0.94 in).
\nWidth at Yokote: 1.67 cm (0.66 in).
\nThickness of rim (Kasane): 0.51 cm (0.20 in).
\nSword Weight: 215 g.
\nEra: Late Edo period.
\nShape: A slightly slender wakizashi.
\nJigane: Exceptionally well-forged ko-itame hada producing a fine-quality steel surface.
\nHamon: Ko-nie-deki suguha with a tight nioiguchi.
\nThe boshi returns in a rounded form.<\/p>\n

Features: The first-generation Masatsune began working during the Keicho era of the Shinto period, and the lineage continued through the eighth, ninth, and tenth generations, spanning the Kansei, Koka, and Keio eras.
\nAlthough the signature on this blade closely resembles the early style, its period of manufacture suggests that it was forged by one of the eighth, ninth, or tenth generations.
\nThis is an excellent later work by Masatsune and has been designated NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Token.<\/p>\n

\nFuchikashira: Decorated with fence and vine motifs, highlighted with gold and copper iroe.

\nMenuki: Horse motif carved and highlighted with gold iroe.
\nKozuka: Shakudo nanako ground carved with a horse motif and highlighted with gold iroe.
