It is regarded as a dai-mei (substitute signature) of Shinkai. It is likely that not only the signature but also the actual forging was carried out by Shinkai.<br \/>\nThe workmanship is excellent, representing a superior example typical of this period.<br \/>\nBlade length: 2 shaku 8 sun.<br \/>\nAppraised and inscribed by Tanzan in the spring of the year of Tsuchinoto-i(2019). <\/p>\n<p>We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo Saku, Jyojyo Saku, Jyo Saku and Regular Saku.<br \/>\nThis sword is ranked as Jyojo Saku among the works by Izumi no Kami Fujiwara Kunisada (Inoue Shinkai).<\/p>\n<p>Habaki: Double-layered silver<br \/>\nBlade Length: 69.1 cm (27.20 in)<br \/>\nCurvature: 1.2 cm (0.47 in)<br \/>\nMekugi Hole: 1<br \/>\nWidth at Base (Motohaba): 3.18 cm (1.25 in)<br \/>\nWidth at Tip (Sakihaba): 2.02 cm (0.79 in)<br \/>\nThickness of Rim (Kasane): 0.64 cm (0.25 in)<br \/>\nSword Weight: 705 g<\/p>\n<p>Era: the early Edo period, the mid 17th century<br \/>\nShape: A well-proportioned blade with solid width and thickness.<br \/>\nJigane: Fine ko-itame hada extremely well-forged, forming a superior jigane.<br \/>\nHamon: Nie-based Notare and GUnome with tough Nie making thick Nioikuchi and Yubashiri. <\/p>\n<p>Features: Shinto: \u014cwazamono: Jyojo Saku: Settsu<br \/>\nIzumi no Kami Fujiwara Kunisada was a representative swordstmith in Osaka in the early Edo period. He was a student of Horikawa Kunihiro and also studied under Echigo no Kami Kunitomo. Around 1620, he moved to Osaka, and in 1623, he received the title of Izumi no Kami.
