The boshi is of standard length. It is considered that the blade may have been slightly suriage (shortened).
Jigane: Fine ko-itame well forged with visible utsuri.
Hamon: Nie-deki suguha. From the monouchi to the kissaki, the nioiguchi becomes slightly softer, and the boshi hamon appears somewhat subdued.

Features: There is a flaw on the right side of the hamon, but it is compensated by the powerful width of the blade. Within the hamon, small ashi work in the suguha, giving a gentle appearance. Rai Kuniyuki is among the oldest of the Rai school, dating back to Shogen (1259), approximately 767 years ago. As a kodachi, it features a wide mihaba and deep curvature.

Historical Background: In 1259 (Shoka 3), the era name was changed on March 26 to avert famine and calamities (saigai kaigen). The name derives from the “Shi-i.” During the Shogen era of the Kamakura shogunate, the shogun was Imperial Prince Munetaka (6th), and the shikken was Hojo Nagatoki (6th).

NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Token.
AoiArt estimation paper: Whole Oshigata.

Please note: The price does not include the international shipping fees.

<img decoding="async" src="https://www.aoijapan.com/img/sword/2026/26045sayagaki.jpg
" alt="" width=“40%" height=“40%" /><img decoding="async" src="https://www.aoijapan.com/img/sword/2026/26045_p.jpg
" alt="" width=“70%" height=“70%" />

Ordering Number: AS26045.
