\nThis work is ranked as Jyojyo Saku for Tanba no Kami Yoshimichi (Kyoto 2nd Generation).

\nShape: A wakizashi with wide mihaba and thick kasane, giving it a strong and solid appearance.
\nJigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada with a very fine and refined texture.
\nHamon: Nie-deki suguha with the boshi returning in a small komaru.<\/p>\n

Features: This work is by the 2nd generation Tanba no Kami Yoshimichi, who was also known as Mishina T\u014dshir\u014d.
\nHe received the title of Tanba no Kami in 1639 (Kanei 16) and was granted the use of the 16-petal chrysanthemum crest.
\nFrom that point on, this crest was engraved on the tang by the Kyoto Tanba school.
\nThe first generation specialized in sudareba-like hamon, and the second generation perfected this style.
\nWhile most blades by the Kyoto 2nd generation bear the chrysanthemum crest, some rare examples do not.
\nYoshimichi is known both in Kyoto and Osaka, with noticeable differences in the way the signature is carved.
\nThis particular piece features a carving on the blade and has outstanding jigane, making it a very fine wakizashi.<\/p>\n

Koshirae:
\nTsuba: Round iron tsuba with raised rim and visible iron bones, openwork carving of pine needles.
\nFuchi: Suaka base with dragonflies and grasses carved and highlighted with gold inlay.
\nKashira: Iron base with carvings of pine needles and maple leaves, decorated with gold inlay.
\nSaya: Glossy black lacquered scabbard (kuro roiro saya).
\nMenuki: High-relief carving of a figure, with gold color detailing.
\nKozuka: Iron base with engraved family crest of crossed hawk feathers (chigai takanoha).
\nIncludes small knife.<\/p>\n

\nThis is a work by Tanba no Kami Yoshimichi, Kyoto 2nd generation.
\nWhile most of his works include the chrysanthemum crest, some rare examples do not.
\nThere are stylistic differences in the signature between the Kyoto and Osaka branches.
\nThis piece features carving on the blade and has exceptionally fine jigane \u2014 an excellent wakizashi overall.<\/p>\n
