\nThe workmanship of this piece is ranked as Jyojyo Saku among works by Dewa no Kami Fujiwara Kuniyasu.
\nHabaki: Gold-foiled single habaki.
\nBlade Length: 69.14 cm (27.22 in).

\nMekugi Hole: 1.

\nShape: Wide mihaba with thick kasane, moderate curvature, and a slightly extended kissaki.
\nJigane: Ko-itame hada mixed with masame, with ji-nie present.
\nHamon: Suguha style with well-working ko-ashi, a slightly deep nioiguchi, and mixed nijuba.<\/p>\n

Features: Dewa no Kami Fujiwara Kuniyasu was originally from Yamato and lived in Edo.
\nHe was a disciple of Kaneyasu and is said to be a descendant of Tegai Kanenaga.<\/p>\n

Aoi Art\u2019s Comment: A suguha-based work with active ko-ashi, attributed to a lineage said to descend from Tegai Kanenaga.
\nThe jihada is clearly visible and well forged.<\/p>\n

Historical Background: The Tenna era of the Edo period lasted from 1681 to 1684, corresponding to the early reign of the 5th shogun, Tokugawa Tsunayoshi.
\nThis period is known as the \u201cTenna no Chi,\u201d situated after the Enpo era and before the Jokyo era.
\nDuring this time, the Buke Shohatto was revised to emphasize Confucian ideals such as civil and martial virtues, loyalty, filial piety, and proper etiquette.
