\nPolished Blade – Superb polishing has been applied to this work.
\nHabaki: Silver foiled double Habaki.
\nBlade Length: 2 shaku 3 sun 3 bu (approx. 70.3 centimeters) 27.7 inches.
\nCurvature: 7 bu (approx. 2.1 centimeters) 0.83 inches.
\nMei-nuki-ana (Peg holes): 3 holes
\nMotohaba (Width at base): 2.92 centimeters 1.15 inches.
\nSakihaba (Width at tip): 2.14 centimeters 0.843 inches.
\nKasane (Blade thickness): 0.65 centimeters 0.26 inches.
\nTotal Weight: 690 grams
\nPeriod: Late Kamakura period
\nShape: Osuriage Mumei Katana. Wide blade with large Sori and longer Kissaki.
\nJigane:\u3000Ko Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach. The Jigane is beautiful.
\nHamon: Ko Nie Deki, Suguha Hamon with Ko Ashi and thick Nioikuchi. Boshi is round shape.<\/p>\n

Features: This work is from an unknown smith in the ancient Mihara-Sanbara lineage or possibly a predecessor.<\/p>\n

Aoi Art’s Comment: The polishing of this sword is exceptional, bringing out the beauty
\nand clarity of the steel. The blending of the ground metal (ji) and patterned metal
\n(hamon) suggests it might be a pure forged blade. The surface texture resembles the
\nclear steel of the Aoe school. There is a vertical crack on the kissaki (tip), but it is not a
\nmajor concern. Overall, it is a highly recommended top-quality Ko-mihara.<\/p>\n

Historical Background: During the later period of the Kamakura era, transportation
\nflourished nationwide, and ports became vibrant, giving rise to economically powerful
\nsamurai. The dissatisfaction towards the Hojo clan, who sought to strengthen their
\npower, gradually intensified. Emperor Go-Daigo aimed to regain political control of the court and eventually overthrew the Kamakura shogunate by gaining support from newly
\nemerging samurai and retainers.<\/p>\n
