Features:\u3000Kaneyoshi was a smith of the Mino school, active from the Nanbokucho period through the Eisho era of the Muromachi period.
\nThis work shows utsuri in the jigane, with graceful curvature, and is likely from the early Muromachi period.
\nIt is a katate-uchi (one-handed) style blade.
\nThere is an old flaw on the back shinogiji, but it does not significantly detract from the value.<\/p>\n

Historical Context:\u3000The early to mid Muromachi period saw the rise of katate-uchi (one-handed) swords.
\nToward the end of the period, warfare intensified, and mass production of lower-quality swords increased.
\nHowever, this blade by Kaneyoshi dates from a time when careful craftsmanship was still practiced.
\nAs such, the hamon and jigane are skillfully made and well preserved.<\/p>\n
