\nDesignated at the 63rd Juyo Token.
\nThis blade is signed Bizen Kuni Ju Osafune Yosanzaemon no Jo Sukesada with a long 14-character inscription that includes the date Daiei 2 (1522). The blade is Ubu, and the tang tip is finished in a tsumami (pinched) style.It bears a tachi-mei,indicating it seemes it was specially commissioned for use as a jin-tachi.The blade shows a powerful shape with a wide mihaba deep curvature, and an elegant saki-zori .The well-forged itame-hada is refined and displays utsuri.The hamon consists of large gunome mixed with small gunome and pointed togari-ba, forming a complex and dynamic midare pattern with tobiyaki .This results in an exceptionally active and dramatic hamon, surpassing even the usual beauty of Sukesada\u2019s works.It is considered one of the finest examples.

\nWide-bodied with thick kasane, carved bohi on both sides, deep curvature, and extended kissaki, forming an excellent overall shape.<\/p>\n

Jigane:
\nFinely forged ko-itame hada, showing refined steel with clearly visible utsuri.<\/p>\n

Hamon:
\nA mixed midare of large and small gunome, including pointed elements, forming a complex midare with tobiyaki.
\nThe undulation and activity exceed the norm, representing exceptional craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

Features:
\nThis is the first-generation Osafune Yosazaemon no Jo Sukesada, considered the most highly regarded of the Sukesada line from Bizen.
\nThe most outstanding feature is the reverse-side signature (tachi-mei), suggesting it was a special order for a jin-tachi (battlefield tachi).<\/p>\n

\nI have viewed many swords over the years, but I have never seen a piece signed on the reverse like this (tachi-mei), nor one with such exceptional quality.
