\nShape: This tanto is modeled in the style of a naginata, making its shape quite interesting.
\nJigane: Fine ko-itame hada, well-forged, mixed with chikei, showing a varied texture.
\nHamon: Nie-based suguha with small ashi, and the boshi turns back in a small circle (komaru).<\/p>\n

Features: Real name: Masuda Kaname.
\nBorn January 10, 1915 (Taisho 4) in Tochigi Prefecture.
\nIn 1937 (Showa 12), he joined the Nihonto Tanrenkai located in Yasukuni Shrine, Tokyo.
\nHe forged swords for the Yasukuni Shrine and was granted the name “Yasuyoshi” by the Minister of the Army in 1944 (Showa 19).
\nAfter the war, he temporarily ceased swordsmithing but resumed around 1951 (Showa 26), later winning various awards including Encouragement and Effort Awards.
\nHe was selected eight times for shrine dedications and crafted military swords for high-ranking officers.
\nBorn in Taisho 4, he is considered a fairly well-known swordsmith, likely to remain recognized as a maker of Yasukuni-to.<\/p>\n

Aoi Art\u2019s Comment: He produced swords within the precincts of Yasukuni Shrine, but had to stop due to the end of the war.
\nAround 1951 (Showa 26), he resumed work and developed his own style, aiming for old swords (koto), and won numerous awards.<\/p>\n

Historical Background: During the war, he made Yasukuni-to at the shrine, but ceased production after the war.
\nHe resumed swordsmithing around 1951 and began making original works freely.
\nThis piece is an excellently crafted tanto mimicking a naginata-naoshi.<\/p>\n
