However, from the 3rd generation, the family split into two branches\u2014one based in Echizen and the other in Edo.\u3000The 3rd-generation Edo Yasutsugu succeeded the Edo branch of the Yasutsugu family and likewise served as an official swordsmith for the Tokugawa Shogunate. He is said to have refined his skills through interactions with other swordsmiths in Edo, and his craftsmanship is highly regarded.<br \/>\nThis sword bears a Saidan(cutting test) inscription indicating a \u201cyotsu-d\u014d kiriotoshi\u201d (four-body cut), demonstrating its exceptional sharpness.<\/p>\n<p>Koshirae:<br \/>\nTsuba: iron tsuba carved with a dragon<br \/>\nFuchikashira: Shakudo base carved with a dragon<br \/>\nMenuki: a design of a dragon<\/p>\n<p>From Aoi-Art:<br \/>\nAmong cutting test inscriptions, a &#8220;yotsu-d\u014d&#8221; (four-body) inscription is extremely rare\u2014even I have likely never seen one before.
