\nJigane: Well-forged ko-itame-hada, resulting in a fine surface.
\nHamon: Nie-deki with small gunome-midare running continuously from hamachi to kissaki.

Features:\u3000This work is attributed to Nagamitsu (Ichiryushi).
\nBased on the nakago style, it is regarded as a well-made Showa-era blade.
\nDuring wartime, Shigetaro Emura, the warden of Okayama Prison, promoted sword-making as part of prisoner rehabilitation.
\nHe invited Ichiryushi Nagamitsu, a local swordsmith, to instruct prisoners in sword production.
\nNagamitsu was an officially appointed Rikugun Jumei Tosho and was known in the area, even selected for the Rikugun Gunto Gijutsu Shoreikai.
\nSince prisoners made many blades under his supervision, the workmanship varied and polish was often insufficient.
\nSome may appear crude, but when properly polished, they reveal fine jigane and occasionally outstanding craftsmanship.
\nSignatures vary from simply \u201cNagamitsu,\u201d to \u201cIchiryushi Saku,\u201d \u201cIchiryushi Nagamitsu,\u201d and \u201cBizen Kuni Oju Ujo Shita Ichiryushi Nagamitsu Saku.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aoi Art\u2019s Comment:\u3000Nagamitsu is famous as the swordsmith who taught prisoners at Okayama Prison during wartime at the request of the prison officers.
\nHe produced a large number of blades, including many excellent works, some approaching the level of Shinshinto masterpieces.
\nThis blade shows gunome-ch\u014dji-midare with well-formed ashi, and the ha is bright and clear.
\nBoth Nagamitsu and Emura have strong popularity among collectors, and this is a promising piece.<\/p>\n

Historical Background:\u3000During World War II, large numbers of Japanese swords were produced.
\nThis example, unusually long at 69.3 cm for an army gunto, is well-polished and therefore a valuable piece.
\nIt was likely made for a taller soldier.
\nSince it has already been polished, it can be enjoyed as a display sword.<\/p>\n
