\nShape: Slightly narrow blade width with firm thickness, forming a refined appearance.
\nJigane: Well-forged ko-itame hada with high-quality steel, showing utsuri.
\nHamon: Nie-deki with reversed choji-midare in the style of Aoe, containing kinsuji in parts of the blade.<\/p>\n

Features: Gassan Sadakazu was a renowned swordsmith of the Meiji and Taisho periods and the father of Sadakatsu.
\nActive from the late Edo period, he continued sword-making even after the Hai-t\u014drei (sword prohibition decree), displaying outstanding skill.
\nIn 1906, he was appointed as Teishitsu Gigeiin, the highest rank for a swordsmith at that time.
\nHe created swords for Emperor Meiji, members of the Imperial Family, and prominent military figures.
\nHe is famous for reproducing Ayasugi-hada, but also mastered Bizen and Soshu traditions, and was skilled in horimono (carving).<\/p>\n

Aoi Art\u2019s Comment: This sword is a work by Gassan Sadakazu, a master swordsmith representing the Meiji and Taisho periods, forged in 1911.
\nHe was appointed Teishitsu Gigeiin, the highest honor for a swordsmith, and produced many blades for the Imperial Family and important officials.
\nThis sword demonstrates his exceptional skill, featuring a reversed choji-midare in the Bizen tradition with a nie-deki hamon and visible kinsuji, testifying to his advanced forging technique.
\nThe well-forged ko-itame hada steel shows utsuri, making this a highly valuable piece for appreciation.
\nThe koshirae is a refined reproduction of a Shosoin Efu Tachi, with a luxurious gold nashiji saya decorated with phoenix maki-e, and kikumon crests on the fittings, adding dignity to the work.
\nThe accompanying sayagaki and box inscription by his great-grandson Gassan Sadatoshi further prove its provenance and excellent preservation.
\nThis work, embodying the spirit and craftsmanship of the Gassan lineage, is of great value for appreciation, study, and long-term preservation.<\/p>\n
