\nEra: Edo period, around the Keicho era (1596\u20131615)
\nShape: A well-balanced tanto known as \u201cGoji Tadayoshi.\u201d The omote side is carved with a flag and spear motif, while the ura side is carved with double grooves (futatsu-suji hi).
\nJigane: Finely forged ko-itame hada forming the typical refined Hizen jigane.
\nHamon: Nie-deki gunome-midare, with the boshi turning back in ko-maru.<\/p>\n

Features: Hizen no Kuni Tadayoshi, known as Hashimoto Shinzaemon, lived in Hizen Nagase.
\nIn Keicho 1 (1596), he went to Kyoto and became a disciple of Umetada Myoju.
\nHe returned home in Keicho 3 (1598), moved to the Saga castle town, and received the title \u201cMusashi Daijo\u201d in Kan\u2019ei 1 (1624).
\nHis signature later changed from \u201cTadayoshi\u201d to \u201cJ\u016bnin Tadayoshi Saku,\u201d then \u201cMusashi Daijo Tadahiro,\u201d and finally to \u201cHizen no Kuni Ju Tadahiro.\u201d
\nIn the last \u201cTadahiro\u201d signature, the dot above the character \u201cTada\u201d (\u5fe0) was written in a rhombus shape.
\nUnder the Nabeshima domain of Kyushu, Hizen swords were considered a major export item. The jigane was carefully protected and not allowed to be revealed to outsiders, making it highly sought after.
\nAlthough early Edo-period swords from Bungo Province produced beautiful hamon similar to Hizen swords, they could not replicate the jigane, and their craftsmanship eventually declined.
\nHowever, in their early years, Bungo swords had hamon as excellent as Hizen swords.<\/p>\n
