The fine nanako (fish roe texture) is precisely arranged, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of Yanagawa Naomitsu.<br \/>\nBorn in 1733 (Ky\u014dh\u014d 18) in S\u014dma, Mutsu Province (present-day Fukushima Prefecture), Yanagawa Naomitsu was a sword fitting artisan who was active from the mid to late Edo period and was also known as a tea practitioner. His family name was Ishida, and he was commonly known as Rizaemon. He studied under Yanagawa Naomasa and later became the 4th head of the Yanagawa family.
