This sword belongs to the Jyo-jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki: copper single habaki.
Blade length: 73.6 cm or 28.97 inches.
Sori :2.0 cm or 0.78 inches.

Width at the Kissaki: 2.5 cm or 0.98 inches.

Era: modern times.
Shape: Wide and thick Katana with moderate Sori.
The Kissaki is O-Kissaki. The Ububa is left.
Jigane: Regular width and thickness with moderate Sori.
And O-kissaki. The Ububa is left.
Hamon : Ko Nie Deki, Choji Midare and Gunome Midare mixed.
In the Ha, there are Kinsuji.
Boshi is Midarekomi and round shape.

Special feature: This blade was made by Higo Ju Akamatsu Taro Kanetsugu and his brother Kanehiro. Akamatsu Taro Kanetsugu is a sword smith of Kumamoto prefecture and is born in Showa 26.
His real name is Kimura Kanesada. He was studied make sword under his father Kimura Kaneshige. It was designated as a Kumamoto traditional craft in 1986. Akamatsu Taro School trains Kanehiro, Kaneteru, and other disciples led by Kanetsugu.　These alls wordsmiths are named Akamatsu Taro. There is a good reputation for copying Kiyomaro.
Since Tamahagane is made from homemade iron and the sword is made, taste is a little different from the currently produced Tamahagane.
This blade is a very powerful work. And it reminds of Ichomonji.

Koshirae :
Saya : Dark brown color Ishime Ji Saya.
Tsuba:　Round shape iron Tsuba, some design with gold color.
Menuki: Crane is engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira: Copper, plant is engraved.

From Aoi Art: This blade was made by Higo Ju Akamatsu Taro Kanetsugu and his brother Kanehiro. It is different from the large blade you see. The shape is nice and the Hamon is bright.
Normally, the swordsmiths use Tamahagane made in NBTHK, but they are particular about homemade iron and make swords with Tamahagane made by a unique manufacturing method. So the finished work is somewhat different. This blade has the Koshirae. You can use this sword for Iaido and also appreciation. We recommend this sword for you.
