(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Tsuda Echizen Kami Sukenao belongs to Jyojyosaku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 68.0 cm or 26.77 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi: 2.80 cm or 1.10 inches.
Width at the Kissaki: 1.84 cm or 0.72 inches.
Kasane : 0.62 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Edo Enpo period.
Shape: It is wide and thick with rather shallow sori.
There is bo-hi engraved on both sides.
Jitetsu: Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached.
It is clear Osaka jigane.
Hamon: Nie deki suguha with mixture of ashi.
Boshi is notare and round turnback.

Special feature : Omi (No) kami takagi Sukenao was a swordsmith of Osaka-shinto. He was born at Takagi in Koshu province in 1638, went to Osaka, learned under the First Sukehiro and became a son-in-law of Sukehiro. Sukenao got the title of Omi Daijo in 1669 soon after became Omi (No) Kami. He started to use the family name Tsuda around 1682 and forged sword until 1693.
He was very good at Toran-ba generally forms wavier than the Second Sukehiro.
Sukenao inscriebd the signature in Sosho style of Konoe, the cursive style
of writing Chinese characters modeled on the Second Suekhiro’s
around Tenwa era to Sukenao’s closing years.
This work has deep nioiguchi and it is similar to the work of his mentor Sukehiro.
Habuchi is like Yuki no Muragie and traditional white paper.

Tsuba: Round iron tsuba with Manji pattern engraved in openwork.
It is nice shape tsuba.
Fuchikashira; Shakudo Nanakoji plate with flower design engraved. Osaki Naomasa.
Saya; Black Roiro saya. Flower design Kage Makie.
Menuki: Shakudo plate with stick and flower design engraved
and bird design inlaid with gold.
