From Aoi Art: This is a work of Chikushu Ju Minamoto Nobukuni Yoshikane, the school flourished as an employed swordsmith of Kuroda family. It is really surprising that there are many fake Yoshikane in the market, this one is genuine without a doubt though. He made not so many works and his works are like works of Oumidaijo Fujiwara Tadahiro, with bright and clear Hamon. This work has beautiful Jigane, clear and bright Hamon, and elegance on its blade, which we truly recommend for you. Shigakane is a son of Nobukuni Yoshikane, born in Empo 1st(1673), originally called Harada Sukeroku or Sukezaemon. In Kyoho 6(1722) at the age of 49, he was hired by Shogun Yoshimune and moved to Edo. He made swords at Hamagoden Palace with Shusuisei Masakiyo and Ichinohira Yasuyo and was finally allowed to use Aoimon(hollyhock family crest) on Nakago. He produced gorgeous Hamon by making Ashi and mixing Choji-Midare into Midare-Utsuri style forging.
