The blade was polished.

Shape : The blade is broad and thick and has Ububa left; in a very beautiful shape
Tanto, crane and turtle are engraved on the front for longevity
Jigane :Koitame-hada well grained, Jinie attached to be like plain clear Jigane.
Hamon :Koniedeki, Gunome-midare, Koishi works very well and small Sunagashi and
Kinsuji work in Hachu.
Special Feature: A pupil of Gassan Sadayoshi, went to Edo and became a
pupil of Taikei Naotane in Kaei 4, and became Taneyoshi in Ansei 2.
Ishiyama Yoshifumi was his real name and approved as imperial swordsmith in Meiji 28 and died in Meiji 38, originally from Oumi.

From Aoi Art:This work is made by Taneyoshi at the age of 81, praying for the
longevity of himself, engraving crane and turtle very elaborately.
Engraving is beautiful and in astonishing quality. He became an
approved imperial sword smith and made many works for imperial
family. He passed away 2 years after he made this work. He
experienced the late Edo period, changing periods of Haito Edict and
to be an approved imperial sword smith: his experience is beyond
discription, harsh and stormy. We are proud of how they worked in
Meiji period, indeed.
