This sword belongs to the Saijyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki: Gold foiled double habaki.
Blade length: 73.9cm or 29.09 inches.
Sori : 2.1cm or 0.82 inches.
Mekugi: 4 (2 holes are filled in)
Width at the hamachi: 3.21 cm or 1.26 inches.
Width at the Kissaki: 2.08 cm or 0.81 inches.
Kasane : 0.69cm or 0.27 inches.
The weight of the sword 860 grams.
Era : Middle Kamakura period 1264.
Shape: Wide and thick Katana with longer Kissaki and deep Sori.
The Bo-Hi is engraved on both side of the blade.
Jigane :Ko Itame Hada and Komokume Hada mixed with Jinie attach.
There are Utsuri appear. On the Haki Omote side, partly Masanagare.
Hamon : Suguha base, Ko Gunome Midare mixed. There are fine Hotsure
Around the Habuchi. The Nioikuchi is soft with many Ko Ashi and Konie.
In the Ha, there are Sunagashi and Kinsuji.
Boshi is large round shape.

Special feature: The Bicchu Are school began with Munetsugu in the Jouan period and produced many swordsmiths until the late Nanbokucho period.
Works made before the middle of the Kamakura period are referred as Ko Aoe. Ko Aoe’s most famous swordsmiths are 守次 Moritsugu, 為次 Tametsugu, 次家 Tsuguie, 次忠 Tsugutada, 貞次 Sadatsugu, 包次 Kanetsugu, 恒次 Tsunatsugu, 俊次 Toshitsugu and 助次 Suketsugu.
Many of these swordsmiths use the Tsugu(次) character.
Suketsugu is the sone of Ko Are Toshitsugu and his signature is large size Kanji character.
It is a little more subdued than the Bizen swords. It has an austere taste.
The signature engraved on the Haki Omote side. Yasurime is Osuhukai.
This is also different from the Ko Bizen school.
This Tachi is Ko Itame Hada and Ko Mokume Hada mixed and Hadadachi Chirimen Hada.
The Hamon is Suguha and Ko Gunome Midare with fine Kinsuji and Sunagashi. The end of the Nakago, Osujikai Yasuri.

From Aoi Art: The style of Suketsugu is a mixture of Mokume Hada and Chirimen Hada. The Hamon is Suguha base calm and Ko Midare.
The characteristics of Ko Are are in many parts. The blade island, thick and wide. The beautiful Suguha is well reflected in the imposing blade.
It also has a high degree of moisture and prestige, and the Jigane is healthy.
We highly recommend this Ko Are Suketsugu, which was made around the early to middle Kamakura period.
