Special feature: Daisho (Large and small) is a combination of a Katana and a Wakizashi together.
This style is estimated to have been established in the late Muromachi period.
When Samurai goes to Castle, Daisho Koshirae is must be black Roiro Saya, Katana’s Saya is cut off shape,
Wakizashi’s Saya is round shape. The Tsuka must be white Same with black Ito.
Kashira must be Sahkudo Nanako or plane. The Tsuba must be plane Shakudo(the so-called Kenjo Tsuba.)
However, in general, Daisho is not in accordance with the shogunate’s regulations, and various styles have emerged based on this.
This Daisho Saya has Mitsu Ogimon and also fittings have the same family crest, Satsuma style Daisho Koshirea.
The Tsuba and Fuchikashira were made by Satsuma metal smith Samejima Sotoku. Sotoku was active in Tenpo and Kaei erea.
It is a rare and precious work.

The family crest indicates thatb it was handed down from the Nirei family, a chief vassal of the Satsuma Shimazu family.
