Special feature: Aori-Mokko style Shakudo Tsuba. Yuki-Mon(family crests) are engraved.
Goto Ichijo was born as the second son of Goto Shichirobe-Shigenori in Kyoto in 1791.
He was called Eijiro when he was a child, and he became an adopted child of Goto Hachirobe Kanenori.
When he was 11 years old, he started to study under Goto Hanzaemon Kijo.
In 1805, he changed his signature to “Mitsuchika”.
In 1811, he changed his signature to “Mitsuyuki”.
In 1824, he changed his signature to “Mitsuyo”.
In 1824, he received the rank “Hokyo” (which is engraved in this Tsuba with his Mei.)
In 1863, he received the rank ”Hogen”
In 1876, he passed away when he was 86 years old.

Goto Ichijo developed Goto school style, and his style with graciousness and realism was called Ichijo-fu (style).
Ichijo had a talent of also Haiku, Waka, and painting.
And so, he was well known as the best craftsman in Goto school.
