This sword belongs to Jyo-jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki : Silver single Habaki. A character 満(mean full) is engraved
Blade length : 51.5cm or 20.27 inches.
Sori : 0.8cm or 0.31 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.8cm or 1.10 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.0cm or 0.78 inches.
Kasane : 0.55cm or 0.21 inches.
The weight of the sword: 500 grams.
Era : Edo period Kanbun era
Shape : Wakizashi with about 5cm Suriage and Machiokuri. width and thickness is regular, Sori is shallow, Kissaki is Chu-Kissaki style. Kanbun Shinto shape sword.
Jigane : Ko-Itame-Hada well grained, Jinie attached beauctiful Jigane.
Hamon : Nie deki, deep Nioikuchi thick Suguha. Boshi is round shape.

Special feature: Kaneshige was a swordsmith clan originated in Echizen province. The first
Kaneshige moved to Edo at the beginning of Kan-ei era and got the title of
Izumi Daijo in 1626, later served for the Todo family and also forged sword in
Sesshu province, present Mie pref. and passed away around 1658.
Kaneshige’s sword is very sharp and ranked at Ryo-wazamono. Quite a few
swords still survive inlayed with gold on the tang about the result of cutting
test. It is said that a great swordsman Miyamoto Musashi treasured
Kaneshige’s katana. The distinctive feature appears on highly-spirited
temperline resembled to Kotetsu.
Yamano Kanjuro Naruhisa, known as Hisahide was a cutting tester who was a real son or an adopted
son of Yamano Kaemon Nagahisa. Naruhisa served the Tokugawa shogunate in 1685 and passed away in the Jokyo era (1684 to 1688) or 1694.

Koshirae :
Tsuba: Iron plate Tsuba, some patterns are engraved with brass. Mimi is also cover by
brass.
Fuchikashira: Copper plate.
Saya: Kawari-Nuri style Saya.
Menuki: Shishi dogs are engraved.
Kojiri: Copper plate with Nanako. Some pattern is engraved.

From Aoi Art: The sword is deep Niokuchi thick Suguha looks like Inoue Shinkai blade. Jigane also Ko-Itame-Hada well grained. The
sword has 5cm of Suriage and Machiokuri, but this is high
ranking blade and we think it is Jyojyo Saku.
