Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae. (NBTHK Hozon)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijo saku, Jojo saku Jo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jo saku ranking.
The blade is polished.
Habaki: Copper single Habaki.
Blade length: 51.8 cm or 20.4 inches.
Sori : 1.52 cm or 0.6 inches.
Mekugi: 2　
Width at the Hamachi: 2.67cm or 1.05 inches.
Width at the Kissaki: 1.83 cm or 0.72 inches.
Kasane : 0.57 cm or 0.22 inches.
Era: Early Muromachi period.
Shape: The blade is Oosuriage Mumei (cut shortened), wide and thick with deep curve and long Kissaki.
Jigane: Itame-hada well grained with Jinie attach and Shirake Utsuri appears on surface of the blade.
Hamon: Niedeki Suguha Hamon brite and clear. Boshi is round shape and brush up Kissaki.

Special feature: Mihara school belonged to Bingo area.
The founder of this school started from Kamakura period and continued up to Later Muromachi period or ages of Shinto.
Blades forged at early Muromachi period are callled ‘Mihara’ and at later Muromachi period they are called ‘Sue-Mihara’.
Jigane of This school are Koitame hada with Shirake Utsuri and soft feeling Jigane.
This sword is typical early Muromachi period Jignae and also as Shinogi-ji.
At this time, Shinogiji are Itame hada but later generation, Shinogi-ji will be mixture of Itame-hada and Mokume-hada.
This blade is bright and clear Hamon and nice Jigane.

Koshirae :
Tsuba: On the oval iron tsuba, a family crest is engraved
and brass and also cherry flowers are engraved open work.
Fuchi-kashira : Kojiri:other fittings are copper plate.
Saya: On the blue shell powder, family crest is painted by gold color.
Menuki: bird design is engraved with gold color.
