Tanzan Shiki
Explanation: This sword is Raikuniyasi who moved to from Kyoto to Echizen province in the Nanbokucyo era.
He is a founder of the Chiyozuru and called Echizen Rai.This blade has special feature of Echizen rai school from Jigana and Hamon.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyo-jyo saku Jyo saku and regular
saku)
This sword belongs to Jyo Jyo Saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 65.9 cm or 25.95 inches.
Sori : 1.7cm or 0.67 inches.

Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei (cut shortened) on the front, bo-hi is engraved
and on the back side, bo-hi is engraved until middle nakago.
Jigane :Koitame hada and komokume hada mixed nice texture and Utsuri appear.
Hamon :Konie deki soft habuchi and Hoashi work.
Special feature:Rai kuniyasu was originally said to be the grandson of Rai kunisue, who is active in Rai school, and moved to Echizen. Therefore, he is said to be the ancestor of
Chiyotsuru. In this work, theJigane is wonderfully well grained and midare uteri appear by the fine Jigane.
hamon has a straight-edged blade with small legs appearing scented and looks like rai kunimitsu.
Koshirae :
Saya :red color saya.
Tsuba :On the mokko style iron tsuba, kiku flowers engrave on both upper pard and
down part with color.
Menuki : big Kiku flower is engraved .
Fuchi:on the iron plate, flower designe engraved. Kashira:iron plate.
From Aoi Art: Rai kuniyasu of this work is a work that looks like Rai kunimitsu at first glance, and theJIgane is really wonderful and the Utsuri appears clearly on the Jigane. The blade crest often shows soft feet on suguha. Sayagaki states that
Tanobe seisei is Kahin (very good quality).
Koshirae also has a strange pattern on the vermilion saya, and I think it fits well. It is a wonderful work that I definitely want to introduce.
