Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae.(NBTHK Hozon Token)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyo-jyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jyo-saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki: copper single habaki
Blade length: 46.2 cm or 18.1 inches.
Sori : 1.2cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.7cm or 1.06 inches.
Kasane : 0.47cm or 0.18 inches.
The weight of the sword 340 grams.
Era : End of Muromachi period.
Shape: Shobu style shape with shaved Shinogiji.
Sori is Saki-Zori style.
Jigane: Ko-Itame-Hada well grained. Jinie attached.
Hamon : Niedeki-Gunome-Midare with Choji-Midare then Hitatsura. There are also Hamon at Shinogi part. There are flaws around 5cm from Habaki of the backside.

Special feature: Shimada school was worked around Odawara and had intermingled with Soshu school.
The style is calm with introducing the style of Soshu Masahiro.
The first generation of Shimada school is Shimada Gisuke.
Their distinctive feature was brilliant Hitatsura-Hamon
but quite a few works based on Suguha-Hamon still survive.

Koshirae :
Tsuba: Mokko style copper plate. Mimi is gold in color. Dragon and waves are engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo Nanako plate. Wave, horse, and Samurai are engraved with gold color.
Saya: Blue shell powder Saya.
Menuki: Copperplate, horses are engraved with gold color.
Kozuka: Shakudo plate. Autumn glasses patterns are engraved with gold color.

From Aoi Art: The sword has special features of Shimada school and also
Soshu school. There are some flaws but the Hamon is
Gunome-Midare and it looks like Hitatsura style. Koshirae is also good. We recommend the sword for you.
