This sword belongs to Jyo Saku ranking.
The blade was polished by good polisher.
Habaki : Gold foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 71.82 cm or 28.3inches.
Sori :1.82 cm or 0.717inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3,44cm or 1.354 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.42 cm or 0.95 inches.
Kasane : 0.75 cm or i0.295nches.
The weight of the sword 849 grams.
Era : probably the blade was made at the end of Edo to early Syowa.
Shape : The blade is wide and thick with suitable sori and long kissaki
healthy blade.
Jigane: Itame hada well grained with jinie and chikei work.

Suishinshi Masahide the First forged this katana. Masahide was born in Yamagata pref.
in 1750. It is said that he learned under Kunikane the Forth. Masahide went to Edo and
learned under Yoshihide at the age of 22. Masahide became a retained swordsmith of
the Akimoto family and studied the method of making sword and disciplined pupils. A
daimyo; a feudal lord gave Masahide foreign steel called Namban-tetsu to study. He was
fond of brilliant Toran-ba that had a tendency to break so he tried to the revival of Koto
aimed at the sharpness. It is an accepted theory that he was the founder of Shinshin-to.

At first glance, it is a magnificent work that reminds us of the succession of the
Tametsugu and Nanbokucyo period. Even if it is a pseudonym, its magnificent
appearance, good Jigane, and gorgeous blade pattern are well made. Dr. Kanzan
sensei wrote the Sayagaki , but the autograph is uncertain. (I don’t think the sakagami is
Dr Kanzan sensei’s.)
