Sayagaki: written by Dr. Kanzan.
Naoe Shizu, Ubu Mumei, typical and healthy blade.
Blade length is 2 Shaku 3 Sun 4 Bu.
This is a legacy of the Matsumoto family of Gunma prefecture.

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jyo Jyo ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki :Silver single habaki.
Blade length: 70.8cm or 27.87 inches.
Sori : 2.2cm or 0.86 inches.
Mekugi: 2
Width at the hamachi: 3.06cm or 1.20 inches.
Width at the Kissaki: 2.21cm or 0.87 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
The weight of the sword 745 grams.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : Rather wide and thick Katana with large Sori, longer Kissaki.
There are engraving of Ken, dragon, Dokko, double Hi and sanskrit.
Jigane : Ko Itame hada and Ko Mokume Hada mixed with Jinie attach.
There are fine Chikei. The Jigane has soft feeling.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Suguha Hamon base and Ko Gunome Midare with Ko Ashi. There are fine Kinsuji.
Boshi is Notare, small round shape, and Hakikake style.

Special feature: Shimada school is a decedent from Soshu school.
They interacted with Soshu swordsmiths near Odawara.
They are strongly influenced by it and produce similar swords.

Koshirae : Handachi Koshirae. (NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho paper)
Saya : Kawari Nuri Saya.
Tsuba: Iron Tsuba, Myoga Tomoe design is engraved with brass inlay.
Menuki: Shakudo, Shishi dog is engraved.
Fuchikashira: Kojiri: Shakudo, the wave is engraved.

From Aoi Art: The blade has two NBTHK certificates.
One NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho paper says Naoe, the other NBTHK Hozon Paper says Shimada. It is 2 different schools at all, we think the Shimada school faction is probably the correct answer.
