Tanto in Shirasaya with Koshirae.(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Signature: Morimitsu(Osafune)
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jyo-Jyo saku ranking.
The blade is polished.
Habaki: Gold wrapped and Shakudo double Habaki.
Blade length: 30.9 cm or 12.16 inches.
Sori :0.0cm or 0.0 inches.
Mekugi :  2
Width at the hamachi: 2.76cm or 1.08 inches.
Kasane :0.63 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era: Early Muromachi. Ouei era 1390, about 600 years ago.
Shape: The blade is suriage nakago and left the signature Morimitsu.
The blade is rather wide and thick and engraved bo-hi.
Jigane: Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach
and bo-utsuri appear above the hamon.
Hamon: Konie deki niddle suguha with thick
nioi guchi bright and clear hamon.
Boshi: Komaru boshi.

Special feature: Bishu Osafune Morimitsu was a son of Moromitsu.
He was named Shurinosuke. He was the head of the Oue Bizen
with other active swordsmiths such as Yasumitsu and Moromitsu.
Morimitsu was especially famous of that all. He has been active
from early Muromachi period which is why it is called Ouei(early Muromachi Period) Bizen.
This piece has a fantastic well-grained Jigane with fine Jinie attached.
The Chikei work is undulating in the ha and Utsuri work is appearing as well.
The Hamon has a mixture of sharpness. It is Suguha Deki bright and clear beautiful texture.

Gold Makie with a lot of family crestd are painted.
Saya :Gold Nashiji style.
Tsuba :On the syakudo nanako plate,
8 family crests are engraved on bith sides of the blade.
Menuki : On the syakudo nanako plate,
family crests are engraved with gold color.
Fuchi:On the syakudo nanako plate,
8 family crests are engraved on bith sides of the blade.
Kozuka:On the syakudo nanako plate,
family crests are engraved with gold color.
Ko-Gai:On the syakudo nanako plate,
family crests are engraved with gold color.

From Aoi Art. This Tanto is nice quality Jigane and Hamon which looks like Rai Kunimitsu. Even though
the blade is Suriage and Machioikuri
but the signature is mentioned on the tang bottom part.
The bright and clear hamon with Bo-utsuri is quite nice.
According to the owner of this Tanto said that the blade
has been kept so long time as Daimyo sword.
Koshirae is wonderful fine gold Nashiji
and many Aoi family crests are engraved on every fitting.
