The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold foild single habaki.
Blade length: 67.5 cm or 26.57 inches.
Sori : 1.8cm or 0.70 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi: 3.0 cm or 1.18 inches.
Width at the Kissaki: 2.36 cm or 0.92 inches.
Kasane : 0.58cm or 0.22 inches.
The weight of the sword 760 grams.
Era : Meiji period (1905)
Shape : Wide and thick Katana with deep Sori, longer Kissaki.
Jigane : Ko Itame Hada well grained. Muji style beautiful Jigane.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Notare and Gunome Midare with thick Nioikuchi. Boshi is round shape with Yaki on the Shinogi.

Special feature: Hayama Enshin studied a lot about how to forge western steels and succeeded to producing tough Japanese swords compatible with military purposes.
Many sword makers followed after him to produce military swords.

He passed away at Taisho 9th when he was 75 years old. He is told that he was the most highly skilled smith for forging swords from western steel.

From Aoi Art: Hayama Enshin was a Samurai of the Toyohashi clan.
He moved to Edo to become a swordsmith and studied under Suzuki Masao.
He started to make swords by using imported western hard steel which is called Togo Hagane.
