Explanation: Hosokawa Masayoshi made this Tanto in Kaei 6th, middle of Autumn.

saku)
This sword belongs to Jyo-jyo saku
Habaki: silver single Habaki.
Blade length :29.0 cm or 11.41 inches.
Sori : 0.0cm or 0.0 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi:2.89 cm or 1.13 inches.
Kasane : 1.25cm or 0.49 inches.
The weight of the sword 445 grams.
Era: Late Edo period
Shape: The blade is rather wide and very very thick which is called Yorii do-shi.
Jigane: Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach and Chikei worked.
Hamon: Niedeki Ko-Gunome Midare with Ashi. boshi is round shape Togari style. There are many Sunagashi, Kinsuji work.

Special feature: Hosokawa Masayoshi Masayoshi is a feudal lord of Tsuyama, Sakushu. Hosokawa study about sword from Suishinshi Masahide.
Further called Morihide. his first piece was made around Kyowa 1st. Later he changed his name to Masahide. He died on June 6, the 5th year of Ansei.
His sword has two styles. a Myoji blade and a Soshu style. This Tanto is an unusual style which is called Yoroi do-shi. I have never seen Tanto like this. This is a very rear item.
