Signature: Bizen Suke Fujiwara Munetsugu.
Bunkyu 2 Nen 8 Gatsuhi
(Munetsugu made this sword in August 1862)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jyo Jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki: gold single wrapped Habaki.
Blade length: 71.06  cm or 28 inches.
Sori :1.07 cm or 0.42 inches.
Mekugi: 2
Width at the hamachi:3.09 cm or 1.217 inches.
Width at the Kissaki: 2.42 cm or 0.953 inches.
Kasane : 0.77 cm or 0.303 inches.
Era : Edo period Bunkyu era. 1862.
Shape: The blade is wide and thick with deep sori
and longer kissaki nice looking shape.
On both sides of the blade, bo-hi is engraved.
Jigane: Koitame had well grained with jinie attach beautiful nice texture.
Hamon :Nie deck rather round sanbon sugi style copy
of the Magoroku Kanemoto. Boshi is midarekomi.

Special feature::First generation Munetsugu was born
at Mutsu Shirakawa province as a son of Koyama Munehira.
His name was Soubei. He was working for Matudaira Daimyo family
as a sword making Samurai.
He moved to Kuwana province with his master
and then he moved to Edo Tenpo 2 year.
At that time he was a well-known swordsmith
and many Samurai asked to make his swords.
His sword is well known as well cut and we can see many swords
mentioned Saidanmei and also possession name on the tang of the blade.
Generaly speaking the quality of Munetsuga is one of
the top swordsmith in the late Edo period and
without any faults among his swords.
