Special feature: This work is made by Kawachi Kami Kunisuke 2nd. He is also known as “Naka Kawachi” because he is between the 1st and the 2nd. (Naka means middle.) Some call him “Shinto Ichimonji” because of the beautiful Hamon. Remaining pieces start from the one made in the Keian era to the Genroku era. He passed away in August of Genroku 11(1698). Kobushi Choji(Fist Choji) is said to have been invented by him. This Hamon is a little bit too artificial, but it had already been popular in those days.

Koshirae:
Tsuba: Round-shaped Shakudo Tsuba. The rim stands up.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo plate. Shishi-dog and bamboo are engraved.
Saya: Black Ichimeji Saya. Shu painting in upper part, Kurigata on the middle.
Menuki: Shakudo plate. Shishi-dogs are engraved.
Kojiri: Silver plate. Waves are engraved.

From Aoi Art: This piece is designated as the 26th Juyo Token. The sentence on the back is an expression of Zen, how to teach pupils. Satsujinto(murderer sword) controls the wrong mind or action of the enemy, while Katsujinken(sword to give lives) is to accept others and let them go forward. And everything is originally Kuu(vacant, empty), so there is nothing to persist in. It is very rare to have this kind of expression on Nakago. The blade is very well-made and in good condition. It is a true masterpiece. (this sword is in a book “Shinto Jiten”(p78) by Kanzan.)
