Era: The late Kamakura period
Shape: Osuriage Mumei. Shinog is left with deep Sori.
Jigane: Itamehada is mixed with O-Itame and Mokume. Slight Utsuri appears.
Hamon: Koniedeki, Ko-Gunomemidare works well with active Koashi and Ha. Sunagashi works in Hachu and Kinsuji is visible. Boshi is rounded and becomes like Yakizume: characteristics of Shikkake school.

Special feature: This work is supposed to be made by Shikkake. The shape is Osuriage Mumei with strong Sori and slightly longer Kissaki. Shogiji has traces of Mokume/Masame: it looks much older. Yamato 5 Schools are: Taima, Hosho, Shikkake, Tegai, and Senjuin. All of them were swordsmiths to make swords for monks. That is why there are seldom works with signature. Shikkake school tends to make Gunome works, and Mr. Tanobe judged this as Shikkake the 1st generation.

From Aoi Art: This work has lots of interesting points, and it has no Hi, so we can watch the whole Shinogiji. Itamehada is mixed with Mokumehada. It is really nicely-made with gorgeous Jigane and elegant Hamon. It is made in the Kamakura period, but it had been preserved really gently and carefully: it is a surprise to see swords with this good condition. It is supposed to have been preserved by Daimyo family. We truly recommend this one to you.
