Special feature: Tadatsuna the 2nd is a child of the 1st Oumi Kami Tadatsuna. He had succeeded to the 2nd and Oumi Kami, and named himself as Ikkanshi. His style varies a lot: Suguha, Doranba and Chojiba. He was a very skilled sword smith and he was also really good at decoration engraving on the blade. Start-aligned long Choji is the best part of the first, and the 2nd had also succeeded this style, but his long Choji has deep and brigh Nioikuchi with Konie and Kinsuji: very unique atmosphere.

From Aoi Art: A work by the 2nd of Awataguchi Oumikami Tadatsuna. The blade is broad and thick: well-shaped. According to Shinto Bengi book, this swordsmith was ranked as Saijyo saku. His works are healthy with good Jigane, long Choji, and Sunagashi/Kinsuji. It is an absolute masterpiece. Koshirae is nicely-made, but the condition of Tsuka is not good.

Background: After the mid 17th century, agricultural output had risen drastically in Japan, and Chonin(city people) gained their power because their basis of life had been stabilized. They activated cultural aspect and developed literature, studies, and fields of art drastically. On this background, the demand for Japanese swords dropped sharply, so swordsmiths tried to make beautiful works like Doran-ba, Choji-midare, and Blade-engraving to make Chonin buy their gorgeous Wakizashi, because they were allowed to have swords and surnames.(Myoji Taito). That is why there are many well-made great Wakizashi made in this era.
